How to draw a three-inch clown with three simple shapes
- Materials you need
- A sheet of paper
- A pencil
- A ruler with one-inch increments
- A quarter to trace
- To draw the triangular “hat”
- In the middle of your paper, use a ruler to draw a one-inch horizontal (left-to-right) straight line. This line is the bottom edge of your clown’s hat.
- Make a dot at the half-inch mark (the middle) of that line.
- Turn your ruler vertically (up-and-down) to measure one inch directly above your first dot. Make another dot there. That is the tip of the clown’s hat.
- Use your ruler to connect both ends of the first line to the dot one inch above. Now you have a triangle.
- To draw the circular “head”
- Place a quarter directly below the triangle you drew.
- Use your pencil to trace the quarter’s round shape on your paper.
- Lift up the quarter and you will have a circle for the clown’s head.
- To draw the square “body”
- Make another reference dot at the bottom of the circular head shape showing the half-inch mark of the horizontal line above.
- Draw a one-inch horizontal line underneath the circle shape, measuring one inch across with the dot at half an inch. This makes the top of his shirt.
- On each side of that new horizontal line, draw a one-inch vertical line going downward.
- Finally, using your ruler, close the square by drawing a final horizontal line.
